Introduction: CENTRAL SELECTION COMMITTEE(M) IS A COMMITTEE /ORGANIZATION MEANT FOR CONDUCTING THE SELECTION OF THE PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS WHO WERE QUALIFIED THROUGH THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION OF MBBBS/BDS CONDUCTED BY THE WEST BENGAL JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION BOARD .THE OFFICE IS CONSTITUTED BY THE BOARD OF MEMBERS WHO ARE THE PRINCIPALS OF VARIOUS MEDICAL AND DENTAL COLLEGES.

Purpose: the function /purpose of the aforesaid Board is to counsel the students according to Merit (published by the WBJEEB) (MED), to arrange their place of studying for M.B.B.S./BDS courses throughout different colleges of The State of West Bengal at Different Districts.
The Counselling process initiates through Advertisement in Public Media i.e. Daily Newspaper, Television and as well as Radio. The publication process for counselling is also brought through the Website of Govt. of West Bengal.
The counselling process initiates with 1st phase and continues through 2nd phase if the seats remain vacant maintaining the rules and regulations implemented by the MCI i.e. Medical Council of India.

Fees Structure for Govt. Colleges
1. Counselling form and Medical fitness form: through RBI Challan /Treasury Challan of Rs. 120/-(Rupees one hundred twenty)only
2. Counselling Fees: Rs 100/(Rupees one hundred)only
3. Admission Fees: Rs. 1000/-/(Rupees one thousand)only
4. Tuition Fees: Rs. 750/- (Rupees seven hundred fifty) only per month
For Physically Challenged i.e. P.C. candidates the earmarked seats are filled through the counselling of the candidates with locomotor disability of lower limbs 50% to 70% and if then the earmarked seats/seat still remain vacant the seats/seat be filled up with disability of 40% to 50% of lower locomotor disability.
Quota system: For KPC Medical College, Jadavpur 100 seats for management & NRI quota
For Guru Nanak Institute of Dental Sciences & Research Panihati, 24 pgs W.B.50 seats for management & NRI quota
Domicile Status; For admission to the M.B.B.S. /B.D.S. courses the candidate(s) must either have been residing in the State of West Bengal continuously at least for last 10 years as on 31.12.2011
Or
Their parents must be permanent resident of West Bengal having their permanent home address in this state i.e. West Bengal.
Certificates of residence in this respect shall have to be produced in the proforma as printed in the
Application Form for JEM-2012 from any of the Competent Authorities as given below.
The proforma of residential certificate as printed in the form is required to be filled in properly (as
applicable)
The residential Certificate as applicable should be obtained from any one of the following competent authorities. i). District Magistrate, ii). Additional District Magistrate, iii). Deputy Magistrate,
iv). Deputy Collector, v). Sub-Divisional Officer, vi). Block Development Officer, vii). Superintendent of Police or Additional Subdt. Of Police, viii). Chief or Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate,
ix). Director of scheduled Cast and Tribe Welfare, x). Commissioner, Additional Commissioner, Joint Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner of Kolkata Police. Xi). Deputy Secretary or above to the Government of West Bengal, xii). Head of Institution (located in west Bengal) where the applicants are presently studying or last studied, xiii). Members of Parliament in West Bengal, xiv). Members of West Bengal Legislative Assembly, xv). Sabhapati – Panchayat samity, xvi). Mayor-in-Council-Municipal Corporation, xvii). Municipal Commissioner and Chairman Borough Committee, xviii). Councillor Municaipal Corporation.] in whose jurisdiction the candidates reside.
N.B Residential requirement as stated above is also applicable for the Scheduled Cast and Scheduled
Tribe candidates of this State of West Bengal.
Medical Fitness: Medical Certificate will have to be produced during counselling from a Registered Medical Practiononer regarding physical and Mental fitness as per proforma provided by the Central Selection Committee (M4edical) against Rs 20/-(twenty).
N.B.Candidates with visual handicapness and hearing disablement are not eligible for preferential admission quota.
